Offering Persistent Treatment for Cancer

#
Dr. Masakazu SAWANOBORI

Cancer treatment generally involves the three methods of surgery, radiation and drugs. These are the standard therapies offered by many hospitals and clinics today. Apart from these, however, there are other methods for treating cancer that are safe and have therapeutic effect. If we turn our eyes globally, we can find many patients whose lives have been saved by such treatments.

There are promising treatments among those still unknown in Japan. It is, of course, a wonderful thing if a patient’s cancer is completely cured by the standard of care offered in many medical institutions. I myself believe that cancer should first be addressed using this standard of care. The problem is that cancer is not a simple disease that can be cured completely this way. It is important for patients themselves to gather the information they need. Knowing that there are many options for treating cancer is crucial for those confronting the disease. These days, however, we are inundated with information, and what is available is a mixture of good and bad. We believe in the significance of organizing such information, and this is one of our clinic’s missions.

With the rapid development of genomics, cancer treatment (and drug therapies in particular) is moving from standardized to individualized treatments. Individual specificities can be observed at the genetic level even in the case of the same type of cancer. In other words, genetic abnormalities and mutations, and the gene expression changes that arise, differ in each individual case. At Gokigen Clinic, we offer cancer treatments that combine therapies with the standard of care. We also as strive to provide the most appropriate treatment for each patient while precisely ascertaining the individual factors that arise from individual genetic properties.

Perhaps you have already undergone the standard of care without finding much improvement, or can no longer expect to see results from such treatment due to the advancement or recurrence of the cancer. Perhaps you have been told since being diagnosed with cancer that there is no effective standard of care available to you. It is to find hope for such patients that we began antineoplaston therapy and implement cancer treatments that are new and not yet widely available. We sincerely hope to offer persistent treatment for cancer to as many patients as we can.
